Horten Ho IVa
for FSX

Thank you for downloading this aircraft designed using G-Max by David Rowberry.

This file contains two models one is of the aircraft as tested by the Mississippi State university in 1959 and the other of the aircraft on display in the Flugwerft Schleissheim Museum, Munich.

****************************************

The high-performance Horten Ho IV glider was built for comparative testing of ‘flying wing’ designs against conventional gliders.

The brothers Reimar Horten (1915–1993) and Walter Horten (1913– 1998) were among the most determined and successful proponents of flying wing designs.
After the basic development of the flying wing design with the H I to H III models, the Ho IV was intended to utilise the lessons learned from those earlier efforts to demonstrate the possibilities of flying wing aircraft in the form of a high-performance glider. The first Horten IV was completed in 1941, and three more were built in 1943. The achievements of the Ho IV in the air were impressive.

Installation
--------------

Either unzip to a temporary folder, (and then transfer them) or straight to your Flt Sim AIRCRAFT folder .

*****************************************

Tow launch
---------
The default tow-plane the "Maule" is of the wrong era and a bit too fast to tow the Horten, but the "Piper Cub" can be easily converted with simple changes to the aircraft .cfg file to make the perfect tow .

See Information file .

*********************************************

Flying
---------
Conventional glider operation, see the information file for cockpit details and speed limits.
Because of the instrument layout it might be necessary to adjust the viewpoint in the VC cockpit by using the zoom, pan and positioning keys in order to find your favorite eye position.
The Ho IV was pre audio varios but it is such a useful instrument I have included one .If you want to be a purist it can be switched off with the battery switch.
To improve your enjoyment of this and other gliders CumulusX and Sim Probe , thermal and ridge lift generators are available as free downloads from...http://www.virtualsoaring.org
